Getting Our Christmas Craft On

As much as it probably isn’t cool to admit it, I like craft. To a point. But I like it.

In the past I have been known to undertake enormous cross stitch designs to gift to other people and to decorate entire rooms to a theme/color scheme. I take great delight in having my Christmas tree look just so and co-ordinating a table setting.

Freakish I know.

So when I saw this post over at Maxabella Loves I felt the crafty yearning beginning to stir and knowing that my daughter, Miss 6, loves herself some crafting, I knew I had to visit Spotlight for the necessary purchases.

The necessary purchases being small brown bags, googly eyes, red pom pom noses, candy canes antlers and lollies for in the bag.

The first step was to glue the eyes on each of the 24 brown bags.

Then draw the mouth on with felt pen and adhere the noses

Then put the candy cane antlers in place. As they were in little bags rather than wrapped individually around the can, our reindeer antlers are  stuck with tape rather than being inserted like Maxanella’s are. Not quite as pretty but it did the job. I also cut off the front handle of the bag just so the antlers sat better.

We then apportioned the sweets into each back (a Freddo frog, a lolly pop, 4 sherbet straws and some Allen’s party mix) and used a small piece of tape to hold the bag closed. Miss 6 then wrote each of her classmate’s names on the back of each bag and “from Ruby”. She did an excellent job.

So here we have the finished product!

I think Miss 6′s classmates should be suitably chuffed when she hands them out on Monday!

PS. I asked Mr 15 if he wanted to make reindeer bags for his friends and he was suitably appalled at the very suggestion. LOL.

Those are so cute! I can’t understand Mr15 not wanting to make some as well ;-) Maybe you should just make them for him and arrive in his classroom and pass them out yourself so his mates won’t be left out. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind a bit :D

  2. They would have liked them anywhere I have worked.
